Turn off heating commands and follow the equipment and pool-closing procedures for power, gas, automation, and circulation.
Water left in headers, exchangers, bypass passages, plumbing, or low points may freeze and split components.
Openings should be protected from debris, rodents, moisture, and nesting without blocking required drainage or creating unsafe conditions.
A cover does not drain the heater. Freeze protection depends on removing or safely managing water in the equipment and connected piping.
Look for leaks, damaged wiring, nesting, corrosion, valve position, disconnected plugs, and freeze damage before firing the heater.
